Acceptance of these terms
By claiming a ShieldTag, creating an account, or using shieldtag.app, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service. ShieldTag is operated by Kodetra Technologies (“ShieldTag,” “we,” “us”).
The service
ShieldTag provides a QR tag you attach to your vehicle. When someone scans it, they can activate a tag or send you a message through our anonymous relay. Your phone number is never revealed to the person scanning, and their number is never revealed to you unless you choose to reply. We may notify you by SMS when your tag is scanned.
Accounts & eligibility
The service is offered in the United States. To create an account you must be at least 18 years old and must own or control the mobile phone number you verify by one-time passcode. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use ShieldTag’s relay to:
- Harass, threaten, stalk, or intimidate any person.
- Send spam, unsolicited advertising, or bulk/automated messages.
- Attempt to identify, track, or reveal the phone number or identity of the other party.
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose.
We may suspend or terminate access for violating this policy, and may cooperate with law enforcement where required by law.
SMS consent
Activating a ShieldTag account is your consent to receive SMS verification codes and tag-activity notifications from us. Message frequency varies, and message/data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any ShieldTag text to opt out at any time, or manage notification preferences from your dashboard’s Settings page.
Orders & payment
Physical ShieldTag tags are sold through shieldtag.app. Pricing is shown at checkout and may change at any time before you complete an order. Payment is processed by our third-party payment processor once checkout is live; taxes and shipping are shown before you confirm purchase.
Important: not an emergency service
ShieldTag is NOT an emergency service and is NOT a substitute for 911.
Message delivery through ShieldTag is best-effort only and is not guaranteed. Do not rely on ShieldTag for any urgent or safety-critical communication — always call 911 first for anything urgent.
Termination
You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time from your dashboard’s Settings page. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, misuse the relay, or if required by law. Sections of these terms that by their nature should survive termination (including limitation of liability and governing law) will survive.
Disclaimers & limitation of liability
The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kodetra Technologies’ total liability arising out of or relating to the service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you directly. Continued use of the service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
