A way to be reached — without carrying a phone.

A durable ShieldTag stuck to a backpack or clipped to a lanyard badge lets a teacher, a bus driver, or a stranger reach your family directly if your child needs help. No wearable hardware, no location tracking — ever.

Kids protected by a ShieldTag

Best on a backpack or a lanyard badge for school, camp, or anywhere your child goes without you.

How it works

  1. 1

    Attach the tag

Stick it to a backpack or clip it to a lanyard badge. Nothing for your child to carry or charge.

  2. 2

    Someone scans it

A teacher, a bus driver, another parent — anyone who needs to reach your family can scan the tag.

  3. 3

    You get the message

It lands as a text to you, the parent or guardian. Reply through the relay — your number is never shown.

What's live today

  • Anonymous two-way relay — your number is never shown, on either end
  • Photo messages once your tag is on a paid plan
  • Approval-gated contact + masked video calling on Plus
"A teacher scanned it at pickup and had my number in seconds — no app, no drama."

What people actually send

They need assistance

what's happening and where you are

They seem lost — reaching their family

where you are together right now

No GPS. No app. No tracking — that’s the point.

ShieldTag can’t see where your child is, and neither can anyone else. It only works the moment a real person scans the tag and chooses to send a message — nothing is tracked, logged, or shared automatically.

ShieldTag is not a 911 service and not a substitute for one. If it’s an emergency, call 911 first — reaching a family through a tag is best-effort, never guaranteed.

Questions

Is this a tracking device?

No. ShieldTag has no GPS, no app on a child’s device, and nothing to charge. It only works the moment someone scans the tag and chooses to send a message.

What information is on the tag?

Just an opaque code — no name is printed on it. We recommend a first name or nickname only on the account; it’s never shown to whoever scans the tag.

What if a stranger scans it with bad intentions?

Your child’s name and your phone number are never shown to the person scanning — only you, the account holder, ever see identifying details.

  • ShieldTag is not a location tracker, medical-alert device, or wearable — it is a durable, scannable tag.
